The What’sYourPrice app is an absolute novelty when it comes to online dating. Here, the hitherto unknown date partner has to pay a price you have set yourself for your date in order to be able to meet you.
The online dating portal What’s Your Price sheds new light on online dating. The weird idea: In addition to eye color, job, etc., the price that you ask for a first date with you is also asked.
The founders of the platform write on their website: “We think about dating economics” and their stated goal is to make dating more lucrative for every person. The thesis behind it: “Every man can have a date with almost every woman – if only he reaches deep enough into your pocket for this.
The spokeswoman for the platform, Angela J.Bermundo, says that a date with women is usually more expensive: “If men are willing to pay for the dates, then the likelihood that women will say yes also increases.”
This is how the site works:
When registering, you can choose between two account types: attractive or generous member. Then the necessary basic information is requested – as is usually the case with any other online dating portal.
But the fundamental difference follows after this basic question, because the price that you ask as an attractive member for a first date is also asked.
The site’s providers at this point reveal that most of the “paying” members are men and most of the “paid” members are women.
The “paying” people browse, make offers and thus also ask for a first date.
The “paid” then accept the offer, reject it, or continue to negotiate.
This somewhat weird portal has now also gone online in Germany. But the really weird thing about it: The same portal like this has existed in the USA since 2010 – and not exactly bad. And in Germany, too, a new trend seems to be taking off. After all, around 6,000 Germans are already registered with the portal. According to the operator, the average price for a date in Germany is currently 68 euros.
Attention men: Currently eight times more women than men are registered with WhatsYourPrice. So nothing stands in the way of a date – except maybe a few small, financial negotiations.
